The border Police (in Mont Blanc tunnel) prohibited the entrance in France for 4 Italians from Milano in route to the G8 demo (translation)

This is a translation of an article published in French on Paris Indymedia ( http://paris.indymedia.org/article.php3?id_article=3305)

Communication : The European coordination against the G8, the CHARG8 and the FSL denonced vigorously the fact that the border Police (in Mont Blanc tunnel) prohibited the entrance in France for 4 Italians from Milano in route to the G8 demo.

These Italians were from the sattelite TV, global TV ( http://www.tvglobal.org).
This interdiction is in total contradiction with the disposition taken by Nicolas Sarkozy, the french Minister of the Interior during the meeting he had with the different anti-G8 delegations as well as Amnesty international, League of Human Rights.... Saturday 24th of may.

Indeed the ministre did promise that only the people carrying guns would not be allowed to enter France. Yet these Italian journalist from Global TV had only cameras, microphones and audiovisual apparatus. The reason invoqued by the director of the border police of Rhone Alpes region for not allowing them in France is that their descriptions correspond, according to the Italian Police, to individuals that represent a danger during demonstrations.

The different anti-G8 delegations denonced the use of files shared by the Europeans polices. This incident is a violation of the freedom of press and highlights the excistence of black lists created and shared by European polices.

sent back to France

30.05.2003 08:13

hello

we were stopped and searched for over an hour and questioned and finally sent back on the border crossing just before Lausanne.
Unfortunately we did not make it to the demo than; the border crossing from Germany to France went without problems though.
The other activists crossing the border in the east of Switzerland had no problems in crossing the border.
We were searched for over an hour; including the swiss authorities using mirrors and screwdrivers and taking parts of the car apart, leaving some parts permanently damaged.
They searched everything, asking repeatedly about drugs, taking everything out and examining it really closely, but did not find anything.
This did not deter the swiss authorities, from chucking us out of Switzerland.
We happily finally arrived in Annemasse after 20 hrs of travelling, being totally worn out.

great stuff here, great people; great villages; brilliant organisation; good mood and atmosphere; lots of variety of people and politics; and so much space; everybody can have own priorities and space;too, lots of gigs and concerts going on; lots of media stuff, sunny weather; good food; lovely view; if you considered coming here and havent yet, get here as quickly as possible, or you really miss out on a good political holidays and we are having lots of fun here.

The vaaag is just fantastic.

bye for now.
