M29 Brixton Anti-War Protest

Around 300 people converged today in central Brixton following a call by South London Stop The War Coalition. (article 1)
People gathered at Brixton Oval for a rally, but eventually the crowd moved to blockade Brixton Road. Police then negotiated with the organisers a march through Brixton that followed a route that police imposed. The crowd eventually got back to Brixton Oval where a sound system was blasting out drum'n'bass until early evening. South London Stop The War Coaliton seemed happy about how the event unfolded, although other local people felt that to be able to make an impact and to truly try to stop this criminal attack on Irak, other tactics are needed, focussing on civil disobedience. A local resident told me what seems to sum up today's protest: "Let's be realistic, if we can't even keep a blockade and stop the traffic for longer, how are we going to stop this war". All in all, not a very empowering protest but still here there are some pics.

we're independent filmmakers from Mexico and we are looking for photographies about the protests against the war, we expect to be able to use them in our documentary film "Speak Out". We don't have the money to buy some material from the corporations and we don't know if you own the rigths of this pictures you uploaded to indymedia, but if so: Do you give us your permission to use them? Can you send us more pictures about the manifestations against the war? If you don't have the rights do you know where can we find these kind of photos?
