Civil disobedience against the war!

Harlequin | 20.01.2003 08:56

Ordinary A to B protest marchs will do nothing to stop this coming war. Only mass civil disobedience will. We need to be organising mass civil disobedience not just going on demos!

The whole anti-war movement seems to be concentrating on traditional protests such as lobbys of Parliament and Ato B marches and rallies instead of planning real direct action which will really put pressure on the government to back off from attacking Iraq!

I suggested a while ago a mass blockade of Oxford Street (remember Mayday 2001 when a small similar action caused chaos). Another person on here suggested occupying the MI6 building. But that is a bit over ambitious as the cops would quickly seal off all roads around the building and arrest everyone taking part in the occupation as well as not being able to get many people who would be up for it.

Recently an RAF base was targetted in Northwood but only 200 people turned up so it was useless! Targetting central London and other big cities for a mass blockade would be far easier and really make an impact while carrying very little risk of arrest.
