This morning the Hamburg 'Wagenplatz' Bambule had to retreat due to a massive police force being deployed to evict the site. Also see the article 'Celebrating creativity in the face of repression' ( http://uk.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=45481&group=webcast)

Hamburg: Bambule evicted!
Hamburg: Bambule evicted!

During the whole night until the early morning, police had amassed around the neighbourhood "Karolinenviertel" where the Bambule was situated. At around 7am police forces equipped with watercannons and other heavy vehicles, supported by police from Berlin and from neighbouring Schleswig-Holstein, started to advance from all sites into the small streets of the Karolinenviertel, where several hundred supporters of the Bambule were waiting, having occupied several crossroads and erected baricades. For a while it was possible to resist peacefully and slow down police movements, but it soon became clear that any further resistance would be smashed by the heavy police force. Bambule inhabitants negotiated with police and were finally allowed to move off to save their homes. Currently a demonstration is moving around town, other actions will follow.

Let's show Bambule some ACTIVE support!

Across the world cities are getting gentrified. Rents are rocketing and those without the ability to afford to stay put, those whose appearance is undesireable to the yuppies that are taking over larger and larger areas of our cities, and those wanting to run radical projects (squat centres, trailor/traveller sites, social centres etc...) are gradually being pushed out of the cities into the suburbs - or are crushed altogether.

One way we can resist this phenomenon is to show ACTIVE solidarity with EVERY project (such as 'Bambule' in Hamburg or squatted houses in South London) that is evicted, or that is under threat of eviction.

Take action now. Post the info to Indymedia and other independent media outlets around the world!

Solidarity is a weapon!
