Hamburg: Bambule evicted!

During the whole night until the early morning, police had amassed around the neighbourhood "Karolinenviertel" where the Bambule was situated. At around 7am police forces equipped with watercannons and other heavy vehicles, supported by police from Berlin and from neighbouring Schleswig-Holstein, started to advance from all sites into the small streets of the Karolinenviertel, where several hundred supporters of the Bambule were waiting, having occupied several crossroads and erected baricades. For a while it was possible to resist peacefully and slow down police movements, but it soon became clear that any further resistance would be smashed by the heavy police force. Bambule inhabitants negotiated with police and were finally allowed to move off to save their homes. Currently a demonstration is moving around town, other actions will follow.
