A women's anti-war action succeeded in blocking Westminster Bridge with street theatre, puppets, music and banners before police forcefully intervened.
A women's Anti-War action took place on Westminster Bridge, close to parliament, around 1pm today. Traffic on the bridge was blocked and protesters made their case against the war with puppets, street theatre and banners.
Some people climbed onto lamp posts and put tape across the streets, but police stepped in with force, cutting down banners and aggressively dragging down protesters. A number of people were hurt and one woman was arrested

To be effective, direct action relies either on surprise or numbers. To get the numbers, much more effort is needed in networking and organising and producing ideas that can work. I am sure many more people would love to get into action if they only knew what to do. 31 October in London was better than nothing but not half as good as it could have been. Now, what are we going to do next?
