At 8am on 31st October around 20 protestors entered Oxford Road in Fallowfield and sat down in a symbolic act of oppostion to the war. Carrying banners which read 'Stop the War' and 'War is not the solution in Iraq', people held the road for around 5 minutes. Traffic backed up in both directions until irate drivers threatened, handled and dragged people out of the way.
People regrouped before occupying another spot up the road again for around 5 minutes. This time the blockade ended peacefully.

BMW Thug

During this peaceful act of civil disobedience, one motorist was particularly unsupportive. This was 'BMW Thug', an expensively dressed business-looking type, who jumped out of his car shouting "Yoose aer cawstin' me monneeee!". He then threatened a number of peace-campaigners, and kicked some of the young women (tough guy!).

Most of this sorry scene was caught on our camera, along with his number plate. I for one intend to make a complaint to the police about this assault. So his rash actions will end up 'cawstin' this wretch more of his precious 'monneeee'. Maybe he'll learn that being excellent to each other is the path of enlightened self-interest!
