Protestors from the Stop the War Association today blockaded one of the main roads into Manchester city center. (article 1)

Road blockade in Manchester

At 8am on 31st October around 20 protestors entered Oxford Road in Fallowfield and sat down in a symbolic act of oppostion to the war. Carrying banners which read 'Stop the War' and 'War is not the solution in Iraq', people held the road for around 5 minutes. Traffic backed up in both directions until irate drivers threatened, handled and dragged people out of the way.
People regrouped before occupying another spot up the road again for around 5 minutes. This time the blockade ended peacefully.
