Apparently "the University's planning application [for a massive 1700 room development] has now been referred to the Secretary of State under the Greenfields Site Directive. We now need to convince him (of course it will be his minions and I need to check exactly who we need to talk to) that the application should be called in to public enquiry -stage 2 - (stage 3 is winning the public enquiry)."

The appeal was rejected

BUT NOW THIS WEEK'S BAD...
We learned in a letter received today (10th Sept) that our appeal to the GONW (Government Office of the North West) has now been rejected, so it looks like the building WILL go ahead.
As a sideline on this, a developer has reportedly bought some land on a farm opposite the point where the new university-A6 access road junction will be built.
The university has applied to demolish part of the old traditional Barker House Farm building (part of the threatened area) and is going to apply to built more stuff next to the southern campus area.
Surveys are also currently going ahead regarding the Lancaster by-pass too.
