The GM debate at The World Summit on Sustainable Development is hotting up and African countries are pretty pissed off at being used as a dumping ground for the unwanted genetically modified food stuffs of the US. Joint statements have been made rejecting the so-called 'aid' which is widely recognised as an attempt to force African nations to accept biotechnology against their will.
Attached are various statements and press releases from African organisations...
(Note - Monsanto has ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY delegates at the summit - which is more than the number of people the UK government has sent)
- African civil society statement on gm food aid
- Statement by the Small Holder Farmers and Fish Harvesters
- Solidarity statement from 39 nations
- Why Africa SHOULD Reject GE Contaminated Food Aid -
- The Johannesburg declaration on biopiracy biodiversity and community rights
- Biotechnology and GMO commission at the Global Forum at NASREC
- Force feeding the world - GFA
