Zionists hold pro-Israel rally in London

The Zionists held a rally in Trafalgar Square today, Monday 6th May, in support of the terrorist state Israel, with a counter demonstration by Muslims, Jews and other decent-minded people.

I was at the counter demo today in Trafalgar Square. The pro-Israeli Zionists, numbering approx. 15,000 held a rally in support of Israel, with speakers including former Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu and Labour MP, Peter Mandelson.

There were two counter demonstrations at opposite ends of the square. The one at the Pall Mall corner was predominantly Muslim and numbered 300-400. The other one, on the steps of St. Martin in the Fields, consisted of about a hundred Jews opposed to the Zionist state, as Zionism is opposite to the Jewish faith.

The Zionists were taken aback by the presence of Jews opposed to Israel on the church steps and seemed to be very embarrassed by their presence at the rally.

The numbers of people present at the rally seemed to be doubled by the police and media to 30,000. The central part of the square was filled, only in front of the stage. I went to the pro-Palestine demo last month which had way more than double the number of people today, yet that was said by the police and media to amount to only 15,000 people (more like the 100,000 on Indymedia!). I can't say I am surprised.

The police said there was over 30,000, the media say 40,000, and the organisers 50,000. I was in central London and you could'nt get near Leicester Sq from the north, it was so packed with a sea of British and Israeli flags. Many people seemed to be giving up early on and leaving as they couldn't hear the speakers from the back which is probably why the police downgraded the number. Anyway the Pal Sol march later this month needs to get its act together and quadruple its numbers and get some speakers with more credibility if it wants to compete.

There were definately more than "300-400" at the counter demo. Yes, it was disappointing that there hadn't been a proper mobilisation against the Zionists, but it was more like 1,000.

The left didn't mobilise at all, apart from about 4 members of the SWP who arrived late and left early, only Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! treated it seriously and brought a banner etc.

For once it was refreshing that the Labour MPs were kept firmly where they belong with the oppressor, speaking at the Zionist event and we didn't have to listen to their hypocrisy!

Oh deary me, same old nonsense!
Does it really need a "majority" for one side to be right, the other wrong?
If so Hitler was right because his public relations people (who incidently are still with us - see PR companies!) managed at one point to command[sic] a majority of Germans to his sick but familiar visions.
The fact that so many Jewish people seem to back the current Nazi-like power brokers in the M.E. is no indication of virtue of either their government (especially since it lacks all virtue) nor in fact themselves, as they have allowed themselves to be manipulated to the point were they cannot think themselves out of a situation where a reasonably balanced person would have to say that they have begun to resemble their worst [historic] enemies.
Some of these people will never allow their brains and finer feelings to the surface, sad yes, unsurmountable no.
The majority of this majority however, are still capable of being reached and persuaded by truth and justice, we all have to try harder not louder.

i was at that rally. every square inch of trafalgar square, plus the roads on 3 sides of the square, were jam packed with rally supporters. 15,000 my arse, more like 55,000.

I'm just wondering why the content on every indymedia site I've seen is so anti-Israeli. In fact, some of what I've seen actually justifies acts of terrorism from muslims.

Why is this? Why do you hate jews so much?
