On the Job with the Public Order Mob

account of a visit from our frinds in the Met

I was visited this morning by the Scotland Yard Public Order branch, looking for my son in connection with May Day. It’s not illegal now to demonstrate on May Day? I enquired. No, they just wanted to deliver a letter. Clearly they don’t trust the post office (now renamed Mailtrack) to do the job. What was odd was they had brought along a police cameraman and were recording the whole thing. What did they expect to find? I had just got out of the bath and was dressed only in a towel (enough to induce a breach of public order, some might think). Can I demand a copy of the film or to see it destroyed? I don’t want to end up on some porno compilation: On the Job with the Public Order Mob.
Is anyone keeping track of these pre-May Day visits?

Was it recorded on digital

If it was recorded on digital then under the Data Protection Act you are entitled to obtain a copy of the film. It may cost £10 but that is up to you if you pay it. You will also have to give details of yourself in abundance. I don't want to put you off however and if you want to get it then you nedded to of taken the details of the numbers of the cops and where the film would be taken. I suspect it would of been a SO number and then this will be Scotland Yard.

Further to this you are entitled to write to the relevant office and demand an answer as to why they were coming to your house personally and why they were filming.

Hope this helps

Doesn't matter what it was recorded on

It doesn't matter if it was recorded on digital or not, the data protection act allows you to get copies of ANY data recorded on you regardless of weather its on paper film or a hard drive

letters

Last year they gave letters to a bunch of people, but this would be the first one this year the pigs have tried to give Mayday Collective folks. Last year they tried to deliver them over a week before Mayday, so it looks like they've changed tactic slightly - they filmed everyone last year, too, possibly partly for intimidation purposes and partly to prove the letter was delivered to the person intended.

Tell the Legal Defence & Monitoring Group

I was also lucky enough to receive a visit from Scotland Yard this morning -- I'm glad to say this time they called at the semi-reasonable hour of 8am (Last year they woke me at 7.15 in the middle of a wonderful dream - the gits!)

Seriously, if you have received a letter or any kind of intimidation, you should email the Legal Defence & Monitoring Group :  ldmg@yahoo.co.uk

Dont be intimidated. We are doing nothing wrong.

As I was leaving court today ................

....... after the Womble7 pre-trial review, I was accosted by a group of FIT coppers, who followed me down Horseferry Road, trying to hand me a letter and trying to tell me something. Only, I'm a little deaf and there was lots of traffic, so I couldn't hear a word the bugger was trying to say. :-(

HOW POLITICAL IS THAT?
