Extreme right success in French presidential election

Jean Marie Le Pen, leader of the far-right Front Nationale, has entered the second round of presidential elections in France, with over 17% of the vote.

He came second only to the Conservative Chirac, on 19%. Le Pen and the other neo-fascist candidate, Bruno Megret, together received 19.5% of all votes cast. Radical left-wing candidates (Trots) scored 11.6% of the total. I am unaware of the percentage turnout.

The current Socialist Prime Minister was knocked out of the presidential race by Le Pen, who has called the Holocaust "a detail of history", likens immigration to "an invasion" and promises to immediately deport all people who have entered France illegally and wishes to create 200,000 more places in prison.

The FN (much like the BNP) has campaigned largely on issues of law and order (or "security") blaming immigrants and ethnic minorities for the problems of capitalism: mass unemployment and rising crime, wage cuts, overcrowding in schools and universities.

Always remember what the nazis did in ww2. They have no right to be anywhere. Wake up now and organise to destroy them. Wake up, wake up, wake up! Do you want you or your neighbors to be targeted by these thugs? When are the people going to march to the nazi head quaters and smash them up?

what a shame the left wing split the vote so thoroughly - Jospin's weak campaign fight was also something of a disaster. All that can be hoped is that socialist voters swallow their pride and vote for Chirac in order to keep the despicable Le Pen out. Perhaps next time a left-wing candidate will be able to hold office as President, but for now we can only pray that the French people vote Chirac as the lesser of two evils. Le Pen and the Nazis must NOT win, whatever the cost, and they WILL NOT.
Keep France for the Free, not just those whom the Front Nationale choose to favour.

It says a lot about the 'new' BNP that its mindless minions, such as Jack, admire Jean Marie Le Pen, a holocaust denier, anti-immigrant, anti-semitic, racist thug. He has physically assaulted his rivals, including a female mayoral candidate in 1997 who he kicked to the ground and for which he was given a three-month probationary sentence. His anti-crime platform is in stark contrast to the criminal records of his close colleagues, who have been convicted for sexual assault, racist abuse and corruption. I can understand why Jack and his fellow Nazis support FN - they are all brothers in crime.

There is no third reich emerging. George Bush and co are quitely engineering the demise of the west on behalf of its enemies, and I don't mean the Muslims, I mean the people who proked Sept 11th (Clue: Ariel Sharon is in their tribe).

Le Pen and others are just a backlash against this, and the hysteria you've absorbed was sent out by the controlled media to make sure we don't vote for change.
