Rumours that Alex Callinicos and the Solcialist Workers Party are getting away with their lies as they peddle them in the United States can be put to rest as many here are familiar with the misrepresentations of the SWP towards Genoa, especially within the issue of International Socialist Review. Recentty, at the Globalizaion and Resistence Conference in New York City, Callicinos was hissed as he took the podium at the closing plennary. Just a few hours before, Mr. Callinicos sat through one of the many discussions organized that day, a particular discussion because one of the speakers on the bill was a former member of the NYC Ya basta Collective (now disolved, stay tuned). She was in Genoa, and is Italian, very familiar with Negri's work, tute bianche, black block, etc. Mr Callinicos took notes, and based on this discussion (in which he said not a word) altered his plennary speech, ommitting comments that would have mirrored the feeling of his article in ISR.

Immediately after the plenary, Two individuals familiar with the article and the debate re: Genoa, confronted Mr. Callinicos, demanding he explain himself and why he equates Autonomia with Black Block, as connected historically. These individuals pointed out the hostility that many (not all, including the two confronters) anarchists and militant revolutionaries have with Negri and Autonomia (though also pointing out that this hostility rarely effects the unity anarchists have...).

Anyway, he lied and said he did not say what he obviously said. So these individuals showed him the text, word for word, as he wrote it. And suprise, he STILL denied it. As if his own words speak against the movements of his mouth!

The point is, Mr. Callinicos, and the SWP, and ISO, and other cooptational authoritarian alterior motive trot/com/len/marxist whatever groups, must be resisted in whatever fashion the time suits. Question them whenever you get a chance, openly, for all to see. Question them specifically on what they say in articles and secret memoranndum posted to the internet every now and then. Heckle them if they refuse to address criticisms of misrepresentation. Don't let they get away with it.
