Presidency For Sale?

The abuse of democracy in the United States

How much did the US presidency cost George Bush? Perhaps more importantly, how much is his presidency going to cost the American people and the rest of the world?
Because he had to cheat to gain a position to which he is not entitled, he is incapable of living up to the responsibilities he has taken on.
The majority of the American people tried to elect a president last year and almost succeeded but the judiciary stepped in and did it for them. Now Bush is demonstrating the untrustworthy nature of the judiciary with new laws against 'terrorism' which by-pass it.
In four years time the American people will have another chance unless some laws made during this contrived state of emergency enable Bush to postpone these elections indefinitely.
When are the American people going to wake up to the abuse of democracy in their country?
A presidency that can be bought and manipulated is worse than no presidency at all.

I can't rule out a situation where Bush maintains his office without elections, its almost sickening to see how the pawns were lined up in the 2000 elections for the republican party.
I honestly don't know if americans will wake up..
every major sydnicated radio talk show is either right-wing or non-political/commercial.
and of course the tv news here is corporate owned, coporate run
and people realy don't give a shit about countries that they don't know of.
The same goes for the police statist laws recently passed, it probably won't show up now, but in a few years time, it'll become accepted policy, and might just get renewed, all the while exploited to the n'th degree.

And don't forget the political system we have here, where this obscure declaration of war could stand for the entirety of his term, granting himself and his war cronies power to destroy those unknown countries. Don't forget also the complete lack of accountability that the american political system, global role, and war machine provides.

sickening to think, but the only counter-factors i can think of are either a vietnam-style war trap, or massive unemployment. Something profoud enough to shift the tide of opinion. High-times of course can't always last forever with us patriots, we just ain't smart enough to maintain it, but we can sure bully it for a long damn time.
