a top banker with Dunbar Bank (part of Allied Dunbar) was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison on Friday for grabbing an astonishing amount of money from the till and walking out with it in her pockets and handbag !
Beryl Rowlands, 58, was head of private banking at the companys Sackville Street branch in the City of London , which gave her a salary of some £55 ($80) thousand per anum and had worked there for 13 years. Her defending barrister said that the thefts had occurred after her promotion.
A spokesman for Allied Dunbar described it as a serious fraud by a senior member of staff.
