irish protester tortured in genoa speaks on national radio in ireland

An Irish protester who was tortured in jail appears on drivetime radio on national Irish Radio. Apalling things happened to him. Very Orwellian in all the worst ways. He speaks for ten minutes about 17 minutes into this realaudio clip. the address is  http://www.rte.ie/rams/ecs/radio_weekly/Wed/sportpm.ram.

RTE is Irelands national broadcaster and this is from the show 5/7 live which is one of the most widely listened to radio shows in Ireland. I was amazed when I heard this and you'll see why. Cracks are beginning to appear everywhere.

In fact there has been quite a bit of national coverage of Irish protesters returning from jail in Genoa. Another of them was on the morning news show for around 5 minutes last week and most of the national papers have now run at least one major story on the issue.

There have also been several pickets of the Italian embassy in Dublin, including 2 last Monday and there will be a picket of Air Italia on Dawson st this Saturday

Listening to the chilling account of the two Irish protesters I was struck by the fact that the Italian authorities were able to instantly access records of the protesters reading habits - the magazines they subscribed to, the books they had purchased, etc. This sort of thing is completely beyond the pale. All of our credit cards - and in particular the newer "store cards" - track our every purchase, and we were assured originally this information was only to be used "internally. I guess we know better now!

The fact that the Italian police were not only able but well prepared to access this information PROVES the persecution suffered by protesters at the hands of police was far from coincidental to the arrests. They new exactly who they wanted to target and proceeded to single these people out using their massive databases as a highly efficient culling tool.

My brother and I were interviewed on RTE's 5/7 live. We would be interested in a radio documentary that encompasses the treatment of all irish people present. My work address is Theatre, Coombe hospital, Dublin 8. We were not identified and isolated as activists. It was simply a matter of wrong time wrong place. Everybody in the area suffered the same or worse treatment.
