200 in EyreSquare celebrate MayDay with little or no police
presence.

On 7th of May,Galway and its peoples celebrated their MayDay
on the official May Bank holiday.200 people settled down in
Eyre Square in beautiful sunshine to listen to musicians from across the Globe, speeches about the Environment +
people and poems and songs from anyone who could. The atmosphere was peaceful and joyous as MayDay should be.The
event began at 2pm and continued well past 7pm.The theme
of the event was 'PEOPLE AND PLANET' and was organised by
'Globalise Resistance'-a broad coalition of anyone who gives a shit about our Planet and its peoples. This years event attracted twice as many folks as last years event which in turn attracted infinetely more than the year before
because MayDay had been dead in Galway for over 10 years but has now risen once more and will rise again next year.
