Press Release: Sheffield workers the most able to detach themselves from work on holiday

28th October 2009: A recent survey issued by MySheffieldJobs.co.uk has found that only 14% of local employees were stressed about their job while on holiday this year, almost half the percentage seen in other areas.

The survey which was also hosted on sister sites MyLeedsJobs.co.uk and MyManchesterJobs.co.uk also found that the Sheffield workforce were the least likely to take work related phone calls or check their work e-mails while on holiday, resulting in 71% of respondents stating that they felt rejuvenated after their holiday, with almost one in three even happy to return to work.

Managing Director of MyJobGroup.co.uk (incorporating MySheffieldJobs.co.uk) Lee Fayer commented on these results by saying “we were interested to find out just how workers in different cities were bearing up during the recession and finding out more about their annual leave was the perfect way to achieve this.”

“Our findings show that of the three areas, Sheffield workers are the most relaxed while on holiday with regards to their job. The fact that over 63% of respondents said that the economic downturn did not influence their choice of holiday destination demonstrates the value that Sheffield employees place on their summer break.”

He concluded by saying “it is vital that employers recognise that annual leave is essential for workers to recharge and refresh to prepare themselves for the new challenges they face in the workplace. Employers need to keep morale high, focus on team building and prepare adequately for when their staff are away on annual leave.“
