The massive leak inside the Thorp plant recently went unnoticed for months and has caused areas of the plant to be unoperational for months - with massive levels of staff inactivity. Interestingly, local press reported the discovery of the leak almost a week before the national press picked up the story.
Now, while attention has been on the terrible events in London, what we have not been told is that Sellafield has been closed because of a terrorist threat. Staff have been told not to come in to work and only essential maintenance staff were allowed on site for several days. Local press picked up on the story but appear to have been told to drop the matter and the national press have failed utterly to mention it.
In the wake of the attack on London, it may well have been only precautionary but my source believed this was not the case and that there had been a specific threat.
What else are we not being told?

It would seem highly unlikely that extremists would target any British nuclear site for a number of reasons:
i) security levels at these sites makes penetration virtually impossible
ii) in-built safety systems and formidable shielding and armour throughout the sites mean that the detonation of home-made explosives such as those used in London would be like throwing a grenade at a tank: it's effect on the sanctity of the interior would be negligible, if any.
iii) in the unlikely event that a successful attack was launched on a site, leading to the explosive and aerosal dispersal of radioactive materials into the biosphere this would only serve to injure, enfeeble, sicken and kill people of ALL races, religions and nationalities. Throughout the world. Including the very same insurgents, religious fanatics and extremists behind the attacks on western targets over the past decade. And including their family and friends and wider members of their religious communities. Such an attack, which would, by its very nature, be a lot more indiscriminate than conventional attacks, would seem to make it highly unlikely that such an attack would ever be contemplated. Doing so would be sheer madness.
