A group providing invaluable legal advice to asylum seekers, refugees and those working with them is seeking urgent help to continue its work.

A legal challenge and policy review of the conditions for the government's amnesty for asylum seeking families.

Asylum seekers who were previously excluded as unaccompanied minors, because they had driving license points or because a child was over 18 should read this document and seek legal advice. They may have a claim for indefinite leave to remain in the country.

Ali Noori, the 20-year-old Afghani detained in Nottingham on Wednesday, is today being taken to a detention centre.

His solicitor has lodged a judicial review of the case, though, so any deportation would be illegal.

People protested the illegal deportation of a 20-year-old Afghani refugee at Nottingham Magistrates Court, 9.30 - 10.30am this morning [Thursday].

He was detained at the police station today with no prior warning to him or his solicitor which, we assert, makes the deportation illegal. The Britisch National Party managed to get over 30% in a local byelection in Derbyshire. The party came second with just 159 votes behind Labour in Heanor and Loscoe in Derbyshire's Amber Valley borough.

The BNP seems to get more active in the Midlands region, with Notts Indymedia recently reporting on a wave of abuse towards the organisers of a community arts event in Coalville, North East Leicestershire.

A Prominent member of right-wing group the British National Party has appeared before a Lincoln court charged with
multiple counts of arson and criminal damage.

Even though the enslavement of Afrikan people was abolished by the European powers over 100 years ago, a new 'relationship' now exists between Afrika and the Western world which is a new form of enslavement which is probably more damaging to Afrikan people than it was 150, 200, 250, 300,350 years ago.

After a provocative article entitled 'Why you should vote for the BNP' appeared in a student newspaper at the University of Nottingham, following increased BNP actitivy in the Nottinghamshire area (including a student at the University standing as a BNP candidate in the recent election), concerned students have organised an Anti-Fascist meeting:

Claire Taylor from the School of History on talk on 'Why no platform for fascists'. Other talks will include: Pete Radcliff from Notts Socialist Green Unity Forum on 'What is fascism and Post WW2 fascism?' and someone from Notts Anti Fascist Alliance (NAFA) on present anti fascist campaigns in the Nottinghamshire area. The evening is organised by Nottingham University Peace Movement (NSPM) and the Lenton Anarchist Forum.

NSPM present Drums of Peace, a celebration of cultural diversity, to raise funds for Muslim Hands' humanitarian work for survivors of the Kashmir earthquake.

A group of concerned people from around Nottinghanshire have occupied the Labour Party's Regional Offices at Harold Wilson House in Attenborough, Beeston. The object being to urge their local MP's to act on inhumane policies towards asylum Seekers that leave many destitute.
