Dongria Kondh glued herself to a display inside the shop, and asked to speak to the regional manager about the "missing"£86million which Boots has avoided paying because of a tax loophole.
She said "Obviously people will have to get their prescriptions here but when they are thinking of buying Christmas presents or other items we're asking them to support the Totally Locally Campaign".
"We have no complaint against the Boots staff, it's just the greedy people at the top". She added "At a time when Educational Maintenance Allowances are being withdrawn, front line services are being squeezed, and the poorest sections of society are bearing the brunt of a crisis they did not cause, Boots the Chemist is stealing £86 million a year from us thanks to a tax loophole. Britain doesn't have a deficit crisis – it has a taxation avoidance crisis, and if we can't trust our leaders to sort the situation out we will have to do it ourselves".
Hopefully this protest will continue throughout December, and anyone concerned about these issues in encourages to get involved. Protest outside Boot's at 9.00 a.m. every Wednesday until Christmas
Please support local shops wherever you are - they do generally pay their fair share.
