.The 51-year-old, arrested just outside Belfast last Monday, is charged with the Irish republican car bomb that caused substantial damage outside the court in February. Ciaran a father of two is accused of unlawfully and maliciously planting a car bomb in a manner likely to endanger life or damage property.A British detective said there was “strong circumstantial” evidence linking him to the bombing.
A lawyer for the Prosecution Service said: “This accused is a member of a dissident republican organisation, in particular the police view, and the Crown view concurs, that it is the Real IRA.” He further stated that, even if Farrell was not a member, he was sympathetic. He told the judge if she allowed the accused out on bail, there was a risk to the public. “We feel that he will then associate with dissident republicans and there’s a high risk that he will reoffend and commit similar offences,” he said. The lawyer said he associated with another person wanted by police in connection with the bombing.
Mr Farrell's wife is American and travels often to the US the prosecution said which heightened their fear that he could escapeMr Farrell’s solicitor, Sean Doherty, said he emphatically denied the charges. “There is no direct tangible evidence that connects the defendant directly to this bomb,” he said. “The thrust really of the prosecution case is based on circumstantial evidence which, of course, the defendant denies. “Although there is innuendo and suggestion that he is a member of an organisation, that is emphatically denied.”Mr Farrell was remanded in custody to reappear at the same court via video link on June 23rd.
Based on British history in Ireland, one way or the other Ciaran Farrell is going to spend a long time in a dirty British cell for loving his sister and possibly being sympathetic or possibly loving his country, before he gets any sort of a trial, which will not have a proper judge and jury or happen for a very long time. To put it bluntly he has been interned at Her Majesty's pleasure because of possible love or sympathies

I'd disagree with you that he is being held because of his love and sympathies. It seems that he is actually being held because of circumstantial evidence relating to the bombing. Without knowing what this evidence is, I think it is impossible to make any kind of judgement ourselves. Some circumstantial evidence can often be very compelling indeed. The best place to judge that would be in a courtroom.
Sean Doherty may deny the charges and say that Ciaran is innocent. But he would say that - he is Ciaran's solicitor. Most people's solicitors say they are innocent regardless or whether they are or not. They arn't exactly the most honest people in the world.
So, lets see what this evidence is and then make an objective judgement then rather than just supporting based on a gut feeling.

Look at the number of verdicts that have been overturned in the past.
Thye British operated a shoot to kill policy in Gibralter that day. The details indicate that there was no intention of taking people alive.
The same prejudices and tendencies exist now.
