Saturday – hope to see you all there. This is just a little recap of how
you can come along and join us, and what you can expect to find.
roundabout in Moston, by:
- if you're on a bike, joining the Critical Mass which is leaving Central
Library in Manchester city centre at 11am – see
http://www.ibikemcr.org.uk/?q=node/573
- getting the number 81 or 112 bus from Stand B at Piccadilly Gardens in
Manchester city centre (on Oldham St, near Nobles Amusements/Oxfam
Emporium). These run about every 10 minutes take about 25-30 minutes and
are with either Bluebird or FirstBus so you'll need a non-Stagecoach
return ticket. See GMPTE.gov.uk to plan your journey;
- get the train from Manchester Victoria to Moston station – takes about 6
minutes and run every half hour or so. See Nationalrail.co.uk for times.
Once you arrive, we'd like everyone to assemble at the Gardeners Arms
roundabout to proceed along the Greengate (not on the road, it's a dual
carriageway and we want this to be a safe demo for kids, drummers, Grim
Reapers etc). Once we reach the rally point near the factory there will
also be:
- a few words from the Target Brimar campaign, from Gazan Musheir al-Farra
of Sheffield PSC, from one of the Edo Decommissioners and from Sharyn
Lock, author of Gaza: Beneath the Bombs;
- hot soup and pasties from a local supporter, and veggie food and cake
from Veggies in Nottingham, who are also celebrating 25 years of
supporting actions, demonstrations and gathering across Britain
http://www.veggies.org.uk/arc.php?output=veg
- a kids' area with musical instruments and toys
- music from Aidan Jolly, Claire Mooney and friends
( http://www.aidanjolly.com/ and http://www.clairemooney.co.uk/)
Anyone who needs crash space for either the Friday or Saturday night and
hasn't yet arranged it, please contact info [at] targetbrimar.org.uk asap.
If you're coming along, please bring your friends, relatives, kids,
banner, placards, musical instruments (maybe umbrellas! Fingers crossed)
and anything else that might help get our message of peace, justice and
anti-militarism across. And if you think you can help out some more on the
day please drop us a line on info [at] targetbrimar.org.uk
More info about the campaign is available on the website.
