Since scattering in all directions over the festive period, Manchester Autonomous Drinkers (M.A.D.) continue to meet every Tuesday in the Sandbar from 8pm-ish.
Originally called ‘actvist social’ which makes plenty of people cringe; here’s a bit about what we had in mind;
Partly inspired by leftist bars throughout Europe, partly inspired by B.A.D (Boston Anarchists Drinking Brigade) who produced some great literature, partly through missing the basement social centre… we invited people to the pub.
It generally works by word of mouth, but if you turn up on your own and don’t recognise anyone then feel free to ask around. It has been a nice way to meet new people and catch up with others who you might just sit through meetings with during the rest of the week.
The Sanbar is on Grosvenor St, off Oxford Rd, near the aquatic centre, it serves real ale.
