Wednesday at the Town Hall Tavern
1) NO2ID and Identity
At the last meeting, there was some discussion of whether the group ofpeople who'd turned up, as an amalgamation of readers from Indymedia, the NO2ID Manchester mailing list and other places, wanted to be collectively identified as Manchester NO2ID. Since the last meeting, I've been appointed the Manchester NO2ID Co-Ordinator, and hope to make the case to the attendees of the meeting for us operating, at least partly, under that banner.
2) Manchester Day of ID Register Opposition
Saturday 1st July sees the Manchester Day of ID Register Opposition, when we will flyer Market Street, sell T-shirts and collect signatures for NO2ID, our council petition and our local mailing list. Any issues over the organisation should be discussed at this time.
I welcome any additions to the agenda before Wednesday, and look forward to seeing you there for a productive and fun evening. I'm bringing a couple of friends along, can you drag a few extra bodies?
Dave

collect signatures for our petition.
ermmm........................................
Is a petition asking for people for their name and address likely to get much support from people opposed to data collation?

there is of course a need to think about what we're doing, but surely many different people doing many different things towards a common aim (in this case stopping ID cards) is what is needed? We live in quite a plural society, do we not?
Oh, and I credit most people with the ability to spot the difference between an email list and what could turn out to be the most extensive personal information gathering excercise in world history.
