On Thurs 10th feb people squatted the old adult education center in hebden bridge west yorkshire. Originally we were to leave on sunday night but due to its success we are staying till thurs. The building was sold off by the council in dec. We are protesting about the continuing sell off of community building by the council and the gentrification of the valley.
The space is being well used with various events running, workshops, video showings, cafe, freeshop etc.
If you want to get out of the city for a while and come help out or just visit come on down.
It is situated in the old adult education center on pitt street behind market street.

We are getting around 30 yp in at a time and after intial teething problems it is working alright. The yp are helping out and coming to meeting to have there say in the running of the squat. This has been really good but it is taking alot of energy. Now we are getting on with the under sixteens the older ones are coming in but it means the process getting them invloved starts all over again.
If you want to come over and hang out with the youth feel free.
