The Ministry of Truth operatives are getting together on Saturday the 7th Feb to plan/build/create with paint/material and lovely ideas. We'll be at 161 Hamilton Rd, Longsight at 11am. Everyone welcome.
The ideas so far are building Room 101 (and other rooms) on the street and filling them with deep and meaningful objects and events. Around the room(s) we plan theatricals..
If enough people want it to work, then it'll be brilliant and it could grow and grow - to appear at Blair's visit and for Mayday in Manchester. First appearance, dressed to oppress, 28th Feb, Market St, Manchester.
NINE LADIES DERBYSHIRE - NEWSFLASH
The bulldozers and cranes are coming. Now is a good time for CLIMBING ROPE. It costs £25 a roll. It builds walkways between trees, makes life more complicated for Stancliffe Stone. If we can't save Nine Ladies, we can make the eviction as hard and long as possible. If people can't get down, but want to help out. we can try and get money together for the rope so anyone is welcome to email if they can help with that. Being there in person, makes it harder for the baliffs/police/climbing teams (who incidently are not made welcome in climbing circles - to put it mildly) etc.
Things people can do
email Stancliffe Stone - tell them what you think. Its not too late. see earlier posts.
ITS NOT OVER...
Even when they tear up the woods around Nine Ladies and crush the rock....
Stancliffe Stone will not stop at Nine Ladies. There are 70 quarrys in their sights. We need to get some dirt/information on this company and to spread this wider.. If there is no dirt, their plans are dirt enough.
Just a thought...
maybe people who are interested in this, need to start digging and co-ordinating info.
Please have a think...
Also the Manchester Electricians (email went around earlier). Thursday 5th Feb Friends Meeting House at 7.30pm. If you want to know more, if you care about what happens to people who stand up against their employers and are locked-out, come to the meeting to show your support.
Manchester Social Forum and GMCA TUCs are joint sponsors of this event.
Finally,
Tomorrow, 3rd February at 7.15pm at Friends Meeting House, Defend the Right to Protest. Support the Marks and Spencers Picket in their court battle. If the picket loses, everyone who cares about the right to protest on the Manchester streets will lose. And the battle with street wardens, council officials and the police will be so much harder next time..
For more info, email
cheers
