With a wide range of talks covering everything from anarchism and education to extreme energy and prison abolition; over 60 stalls; an outdoor space and activities (including a bouncy castle!); the Radical History Zone at Hydra Books; Kebele’s superb vegan cafe; Permanent Culture Now marquee; and a lively after party at The Croft…the 2013 Bookfair set itself a high standard that we hope to match and surpass this year!
None of this is possible without you! The Bookfair Collective is open to all and people are welcome to come along, get involved, and have a say in how next year’s event should be run. There are plenty of ways to help out with making next year’s Bookfair a success so even if you are unable to commit to coming to meetings please contact us as we’d love to hear from you.
As David Cameron talks about “permanent austerity” while cutting front line services and stuffing the pockets of his rich friends it is more important than ever to show that an alternative does exist and that it is achievable. As countries around the world boil over with revolutionary fervor it is vital that we don’t suffocate under the weight of reactionary forces bent on dividing us. We must build a new society in the shell of the old and the Bristol Anarchist Bookfair is as good a place as any to put our politics into practice and show the rest of Bristol what anarchism really means.
If you would like to get involved in organising next year’s Bookfair please get in touch so we can chat about what you could do. All are welcome! Please e-mail us at: bristolanarchistbookfair[at]riseup.net
