Carbon Capital Speaker Tour: London leg

Ralph Allen | 02.10.2013 11:39 | Climate Chaos | London

Banks, hedge funds and pension funds based in Britain are bankrolling the extraction of fossil fuels all over the world. Many of these dirty energy projects are wrecking communities and fuelling climate change while doing nothing to increase energy access for local people. Join us to demand energy justice.

7pm, Thursday 24 October
University of London Union (ULU), Malet Street, London WC1E 7HY

Speakers:
Yasmin Romero Epiayu, Fuerza de Mujeres Wayuu, Colombia
Hendrik Siregar, JATAM mining advocacy network, Indonesia
Nick Dearden, World Development Movement
Andy Higginbottom, Colombia Solidarity Campaign

All over the world, fossil fuel extraction is blighting the lives of poor communities. Registered in London and bankrolled by London’s powerful financial sector, giant mining corporations are forcing people from their homes, polluting the environment and driving climate change. Join us to demand energy justice!

Organised by London Mining Network, Colombia Solidarity Campaign, Down to Earth and the World Development Movement. This event is part of WDM’s Carbon Capital speaker tour. For dates around the country see www.wdm.org.uk/events/carbon-capital-speaker-tour
