On 9th June 2013, Jason O’Connor, a black man in his thirties was stopped and asked to be searched by the police in Camberwell.

When Jason questioned the police about the grounds on which they wanted to search him the police officers reacted by spraying him with CS gas and subsequently beat him to the ground. He was taken to Walworth Police station and later released without charge.

A month later on 11th July, Jason O’Connor was charged with “obstructing the police”, a charge that if convicted has a maximum sentence of one month in prison. Jason’s case is being prosecuted at Camberwell Green Magistrates Court. We remember unprovoked police violence towards Jean Charles De Menezes, Mauro Demetrio, Mark Duggan, Ian Tomlinson and many others. We ask that all who are concerned about police brutality and the aggressive use of stop and search to please join this demonstration.

We demand Justice for Jason O’Connor!
