The ceremony will take place on Wednesday 17 April, with the service due to start at 11am. The doors of St Paul’s Cathedral will open at 9am with guests asked to be seated by 10am. That is the time Lady Thatcher's coffin will set off from the Palace of Westminster in a hearse.
The ceremonial route will be closed from 9.30am, with the gun carriage leaving Wellington Barracks at 9.35am. Members of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, the Army and the Royal Air Force will take their places lining the route at 9.45am. Following its 10am departure from the Palace of Westminster, Lady Thatcher's coffin should be placed in St Clement Danes Church by civilian pall bearers by 10.15am. At 10.20am the gun carriage will take up position at St Clement Danes, with the procession band and escort party also in position. At 10.25am Lady Thatcher's coffin will be carried by the tri-service bearer party, made up of troops from units with particular links to the Falklands campaign, and placed on the gun carriage. The gun carriage will depart for St Paul's at 10.33am. The service will begin as the coffin is borne into St Paul's at 11am and is due to last 55 minutes.
