Man who died in immigration raid named

Frank Odame 36-year-old from Ghana died following raid by police and immigration. Mr. Odame was found with head injuries below a block of flats. A post mortem has been held and the cause of death was given as head and chest injuries. Walthamstow Coroners' Court opens an inquest.

Frank Odame 36-year-old Ghanaian dies following raid by police and immigration. An investigation is underway as to how Frank Odame 36-year-old Ghanaian died following a raid by police and immigration officers at his home in Woodford Green, Essex on Tuesday 2nd September.Mr. Odame was found with head injuries below a block of flats after 'police officers and UK immigration officials attended a residential address in Lambourne Court, Woodford Green'. A post mortem has been held and the cause of death was given as head and chest injuries. At least four other people are known to have died during similar incidents, Joy Gardner (1993); Joseph Nnalue (1994); Noorjahan Begum (1996) and Joseph Crentsil (2001). All the deaths have occurred in the London area and all but one (Noorjahan Begum) involved the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and immigration officers.

Tower block plunge man named

A man who died after falling from the window of a second floor flat has been named as Frank Odame.
Police say they are still unsure whether the 36-year-old Ghanaian national fell or jumped from his home in the Lambourne Court tower block, Navestock Crescent, Woodford Green.

The flat had just been raided by police and the UK Border Agency on Tuesday, September 2, when officers found Mr Odame. He died in hospital eight hours later.
An inquest is due to open at Walthamstow Coroner's Court tomorrow (11th Sept.)

An investigation into the incident is being carried out by the Directorate of Professional Standards.

A post mortem carried out the day following the tragedy gave the cause of death as a head injury.
