Anti-war protesters and activists gather in the Strand, London, to hold a protest outside the British Army recruiting office not far from Trafalgar Square. The British Army continue to suffer chronic under-manning and are now understrength in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

Many reasons have been cited for the shortages and army recruiters are now offering £15,000 'loyalty bonus' payments in an attempt to shore up staff retention during the ongoing disastrous misadventure in the Middle East.

The protest comes on the day British 'media' carry reports that the Government have also increased compensation for soldiers severely wounded during service including those who have been disabled. London. 17th July 2008.
