As you may be aware there is an attempt to build a deadly disease lab in London. There were 27 other bidders for the land at Brill Place next to St Pancras International in the heart of London's business district. The site is also on a Camden council house estate. 12 complied with the planning briefthat the site should be used for 50% housing but were turned down. There is something very stinky about this whole thing...

The attempt to build the "World's largest ever, high level, virus containment facility and animal testing lab" by a the UCL / Wellcome Trust / Cancer Research / MRC / consortium has been brilliantly reported in the nation's press after a tip off from MP from Hendon Andrew Dismore. Paul Keilthy has been covering the story. Natasha Gilbert did a great article in the Guardian and the next day the Evening Standard, thelondonpaper and London Lite did some great articles. The consortium plans include a move by the level 4 NIMR lab facility from Mill Hill to the inner London site.

We want to know why these bidders were turned down in favour of the MRC consortium when 12 complied with the council's planning brief and some were offering higher financial bids.

Why not write to Gordon Brown and Camden Council leaders and find out ?

As we've said...get writing to the planning dept and other councillors in Camden. You can also write to MP Frank Dobson and Boris Johnson Mayor for London.

If you prefer, the Camden New Journal and Camden or Islington Gazette or Ham and High would like to hear your opinions.

And all the papers retracted their reports within 48 hours confirming that there would be no killer viruses at the lab, that it was aimed at curing dieseases and finding treatments for Cancer, malaria, flu, etc and that the Security Service had not objected - I doubt the Government would have sold the site if they had - exactly what Frank Dobson the local MP said and he also said that the lab would have clear benifits!

Hannah you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Governments do all sorts of things that "governments wouldn't do", like invade Iraq.

The newspapers did not retract their statements.

And the lab will be at least level three which does mean it will be dealing with deadly viruses such as anthrax and rabies. The plans include a move by the NIMR in Mill Hill....if you want more info on this this write to MP for Hendon Andrew Dismore.

Recently it was found that no labs in Pirbright, Surrey will be prosecuted over the Foot and Mouth leak as it was "impossible" to tell where the leak into a drain came from. Imagine such a leak in central London....The NIMR conduct tests on Bird flu which is transmissable to humans in a transmutable form.

And the lab will not benefit any local people in any way.
