Planning meeting: Thursday 3 April - 7pm. To prepare for a protest outside the US Embassy at 1pm on Saturday 19 April to coincide with other international protests.

Mumia’s life is in danger!

The Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia has ruled against a
new trial. They have called for a sentencing hearing which will result
in either an execution or life in prison without parole.

Planning meeting:

Thursday 3 April - 7pm
Artists Room
Conway Hall
Red Lion Square
London WC1
(Nearest tube Holborn)

To prepare for a protest outside the US Embassy at 1pm on Saturday 19
April to coincide with other international protests. Note we have
changed the date to match demonstrations called in Philadelphia and
elsewhere.

All those who want to participate in organising this action are
welcome to attend the planning meeting. Please let us know if you
intend to come and get in touch if you want to discuss any details.

Mumia is innocent!
Free Mumia Abu-Jamal!
Abolish the racist death penalty!

Out on the streets!!

Demos at the US Embassy are usually depressing experiences. Do the people in the Embassy really care about demos? Do they pass on info back to the USA re: people supporting Mumia in London? Maybe someone can explaing the point of protesting at the Embassy. Is it just a rallying point for Mumia supporters?

Better seems to leaflet as many places, venues, gigs, conferences, high streets as possible to get the word out about Mumia's case. Then pressure and support can be brought to bear on the US from more individuals and groups.

As part of a previous day of action in support of Mumia, a group of us leafleted our local shopping street and got a much better response than if we had just stood outside the embassy. People who showed an interest had either heard of Mumia's case or wanted to know more. It's more likely that these people will add more useful supprt for Mumia than an Embassy protest.

As part of the day of action on the 19th, maybe a better way would be for interested groups of supporters to do local leafletting, say a few hours at lunchtime?
