A teach in to lean about and campaign for reproductive freedoms, organised by Feminist Fightback.

Saturday 12 April, 12-5pm, Clement House Building, London School of Economics, London WC2A (Holborn tube).

This event is aimed at feminist activists, trade unionists, students, school students and others who want to campaign for the right to choose. Come and learn more about the historical and current situation, develop campaigning skills, and get involved in a militant pro-choice campaign.

Sessions:
* How to campaign: practical workshop
* Imperialism and Motherhood - race, empire and reproductive freedoms
* Getting your message across: making the pro-choice case
* The current situation: NHS, the law, state provision, internationally
* Planning for a national day of action

This is important & connected to Hybrid embryos new cow-human species for experimentation bill, going through parliament in May. The whole idea of hybrids is bad science & crazy as far as health &safety goes. Some Catholic bishops in UK have criticised bill but only because they think hybrids like this should be allowed to be born rather than aborted at 14days

Will you include all feminists?

Hi Rebecca,

Would it be okay if we at Live & Let Live! who are socialist / libertarian/ prolife feminists
test your announcement on Feminst Fightback website that
"but we seek to involve socialist and feminists of different viewpoints in
discussing ideas and building an activist movement"?
Does this mean you want to involve feminists with a prolife viewpoint?

We seek to work with feminists from all persuasions to find common ground
to fight for the rights of ALL women. By building a dialiogue between people
of differing views we can create a broader front fighting for equality and
reproductive rights.

With regard to hybrid human / animals I agree with the above comments,
its sick science and probably won't work.
From a Consistent Prolife Ethic point of view the whole business is unethical
and smacks of money making for big corporations

Pro-life am I, as long as its not human frankly, as I think we've got enough now. Feminists & everyone else can argue for reproductive rights but when you actually look at the situation properly, in view of ecology and climate change and habitat loss you will realise that your "rights" are pretty hollow. We do not have the right to breed other creatures into extinction to provide lebensraum for us and tip the earth into meltdown. "One or none" should be the only family planning slogan. The situation is obscene and desperate. And very difficult. Used condoms have formed a huge reef in the pacific. Synthetic hormones do not break down and go on to interfere with other organisms. The IUD is a system for poisoning the womb with copper and causes heavy periods because the body constantly tries to expel it. Personally I'm hoping for an early menopause :) And either withdrawal does work or I've been incredibly lucky and only shagged jaffas..?
