Sian Berry and Ken Livingstone become mutual 'running mates'

It emerges that Ken Livingstone and Sîan Berry are to become mutual 'running mates' and call on their supporters to give second preference votes to each other in the London Mayoral Election (single transferable vote) in May.  http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2008/mar/18/london08.politicalnews

So prolonging the autocratic reign of the man who defends the Met's actions when Jean Charles de Menezes was shot, and declares confidence in Sir Ian 'yee-hah I can do whatever I like' Blair.

Only days after Lib Dem mayoral candidate Brian Paddick revealed he was sinecured by Sir Ian because the latter suspected him of having blown the whistle on his early knowledge of what had happened (Mail on Sunday).

The man who also supported Gordon Brown's coronation following Blair, invited a sexist homophobic Islamic cleric to London, all but killed the beloved Routemaster bus, presided over TfL's lying about the benefits of bendy buses and fiddling traffic lights to make the Congestion Charge appear better than it was, Central London congestion now close to pre-CC levels with all the Kensingtoners who can now drive in, now admitting lots of smaller cars in for nothing, fobbed off the London Assembly when they had questions over Lee Jasper, operates the only city council with a foreign policy, fleeces tourists and visitors to London if they don't get an oystercard as soon as they arrive, compared a journo who was probing a reception for Chris Smith MP paid for by Londoners' taxes to a concentration camp guard, then attacks the newspaper group who he has formerly worked for.

Is Berry so blinded by her loathing of 4x4s that she cannot acknowledge there are any other issues to think about?

So you want a Tory win?

And are you so blinded by your hatred of Livingstone, B Trayed, that you want the guffawing, braying neanderthal buffoon to win for the Tories?

I, and most Greens share most of your criticisms of Livingstone (D Johnson opposed Livingstone over Ian Blair, P Tatchell has attacked him over the homophobic cleric, etc)

That does not mean that we want Boris as London Mayor - and the only way to be sure we are doing everything we can to avoid that is if green voters second preference Ken. Boris Johnson would be a disaster for London, its working class, and its environment.

Meanwhile some on the sectarian left, (naming no names) take an ultra-leftist position, moving ever closer to third period Stalinism and political irrelevance.

Boris Johnson

"Guffawing, braying, neanderthal buffooon?" You left out evil, nasty, upper class, crypto fascist demagogue. I'm afraid that by focussing on the more humorous aspects of that man, we are missing the really deep rooted and malignant aspects of him that make him really dangerous. If he wins, he will be in charge of the running of one of the largest cities in the world. I'm no fan of Ken's, but...

indymedia ?

I thought party advocation was against indymedia editorial policy. hence the 'indy' part.

yawn

Indeed

Not advocating a particular party IS one of the Indymedia principles. My comment was more of a personal ad hominem attack on Boris Johnson. I think that the tendency to see him as just a joke is very very dangerous. Given that he has been fired from the Shadow Cabinet on at least two separate occasions and by two Tory leaders (on both occasions for making appallingly offensive comments about minority groups) and given that he isn't trusted even with a minor role in the Tory front bench, are we now to believe that he IS competent enough to run London? As has been said before, this is a choice between a crook and a nazi... London, it's your choice...

Greensyndicalists like me&greenman are working for syndicalism

Greensyndicalists like me&greenman+ others are working for syndicalism.
Ive found Millions of anarchists-libertarian communists especially older ones actually vote pragmatically to stop war, etc, they often vote labour or liberal, respect, green etc. They know it will change little with current system, but it helps work towards true change. Does indymedia have to be so doctrinal?,
Isnt it far dodgier that we have communiques from Castro-Maoist parties on the wire, they can be pretty Stalinist, which though not fascism, can be often worse than state we live in today especially when they stick to the "proletarian"dictatorship doctrine.

I agree with other comments stopping Johnson & BNP is v.worthwhile &only one tactic, Brown needs to stop kissing bankers ass, but he isnt kissing Bushes ass like Blair.
Green party though overall are most electable, anticorruption party & have believers in Libertarian municipalism. Getting them in power wont change everything, though it would help work towards true change. Everyone including, most of our movement including me fell for official 911 conspiracy in USA, greens are leading campaign against it with Cynthia Mckinney.
