BBC London broadcast exactly the same story later in the day, in spite of the fact that the national meeting of the Camp for Climate Action in Nottingham, which is planning to vote on the location for this summer's climate camp this weekend, had not even started yet.
However some campaigners have said that the answer to the question of what the issue in London is might be the fact that eminent scientists have warned that the whole of central London will vanish under flood waters when worldwide flooding caused by global warming begins in earnest soon.
Dr James Hansen of NASA has warned that London is due to disappear under the rising flood waters along with New York and all the rest of the major coastal cities in the world.
Professor James Lovelock has also said that the whole of Central London will have to be moved to higher ground in the very near future, as sea levels rise and swamp it completely making the entire city uninhabitable.
"Third London Airport - in Hyde Park?" on Plane Stupid's website on 6 January 2008 said that in the 1960s the Roskill Commission was tasked with producing a report into the best location for the third London airport, and anti-expansion campaigner John Adams argued in an essay that the best possible location was Hyde Park, which would be very easy for London's businessmen to get to.
The Sunday Times took the suggestions at face value despite Adam's proposed runway directly facing Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey, and published an article by Tony Dawe entitled "How about an airport in Hyde Park?"
More surprisingly the article prompted a letter from retired Air Vice Marshall Don Bennet to the Sunday Times "congratulating those who have had the courage to recommend an airport in Hyde Park" and informing readers that he had first suggested Hyde Park back in 1946.
There are rumours now circulating in London that as a result of the enormous opposition to the third runway at Heathrow from the Camp for Climate Action in 2007 and the recent public consultation, the government has secretly made a deal with the aviation industry to go ahead with a new airport in Hyde Park.
It is being claimed that the government has decided to announce that there will be a third runway at Heathrow destroying the three villages of Sipson Harmondsworth and Harlington, and then they will back down in the face of the expected protests and say they have changed their minds, and will build an airport in Hyde Park instead.
What the Camp for Climate Action national meeting which starts today in Nottingham will make of all this is anybody's guess.

The News Media Seems to Have Declared War on the Environmental Movement...

It is extraordinary that they appear to be clairvoyant and know in advance the decisions that will be made at the national meeting of the climate camp in Nottingham this weekend.
Either their journalists really do have inside knowledge about the camp, and its “participatory democracy” is just the same kind of sham as the British government's draconian totalitarian system of doing things, or the reporters are just making up all their stories about the environmental campaigns.
If the decision to hold the Camp for Climate Action in Hyde Park really has been made secretly in advance by the climate campers then their claim to be democratic will prove to be fraudulent, and this will come as a shock to a lot of serious activists who actually believe in this new way of giving everyone an equal say in decision making.
On the other hand if the Evening Standard journalists are just fabricating the stories they are publishing so sensationally in their newspaper, this will go to heart of the debate about the integrity of the news media and the accusations of manipulation and censorship and suppression of important information.
It is not in the public interest for newspapers to publish false news which is then repeated by the BBC and other news organisations, and if this is what the Standard is doing on a regular basis then there really does need to be some kind of legal action taken against them to put a stop to it.
At the Camp for Climate Action at Heathrow in 2007 a lot of people got injured by the police who believed the reports that there were “anarchists” at the camp getting ready to engage in violent attacks on the airport.
The police over reacted to the peaceful protests as a direct result of the false information that was first published in the Evening Standard and the Daily Mail, and was then repeated continuously by all the rest of the media.
It will be very interesting to see what the national meeting of the climate camp this weekend decides to do this summer, and the proposal to hold the camp in Hyde Park is definitely on the agenda, but it does seem unlikely that the decision has already been made in advance.
However in law everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and the Evening Standard journalists are entitled to the benefit of the doubt at this stage, but we do need to know what is going on in what is beginning to like a vicious battle against the Environmental Movement by some of the people in the news media for reasons that are yet to be determined.

Eco Activists Need a Campaign For Honest Journalism...

If the Evening Standard can show that their irresponsible journalism is just the result of mistakes or incompetence then maybe they can be forgiven, and we can all move on to a better understanding and a proper working relationship with them.
It is going to be very important this summer to establish the correct ground rules for all the environmental actions and campaigns with the media and the police, and to make sure that they really do understand that there is nothing illegal about protesting against the destruction of the planet by the government and the big corporations.
Police liaison needs to be very thorough to protect everyone, especially the young people now being recruited into the Movement by the university students, some of whom probably have no understanding of the way the media and the police behave in public order situations.
More experienced campaigners should be ready to react immediately to false stories published in the newspapers to try to stop them from escalating right across the rest of the media, which tends to respond quickly because they have deadlines to meet and don't always have time to check the authenticity of what they are about to publish.
Unfortunately journalists tend to trust each other and believe what they read in each other's newspapers, and when rogue reporters plant false information it can have very serious consequences for the victims of this corrupt and illegal practice.

We Are Looking for Serious Answers to Global Warming Not Lies and Violence
03.03.2008 03:41
The suggestion that there should be ground rules established for campaigns with the media and the police was intended to mean that it is important that the media should report what is happening accurately, and the police should observe the law the same as everyone else.
Protests and demonstrations are not illegal in Britain as long as they are peaceful and law abiding, and there is no good reason why the media should publish lies about “anarchist violence” in advance of these events, nor should the police attack the campaigners just because they don't agree with them or because the newspapers make false claims about them.
What actually happens at climate camp meetings is a bit of a mystery, but it does seem likely that they did not decide in advance to hold this summer's camp in Hyde Park, and that they didn't leak this information to the Evening Standard for them to publish it before the recent national meeting in Nottingham.
Which can only mean that the Standard journalists were either lying in their report or they were mistaken.
There is a large number of groups and individuals who are attempting to make sure that the environmental events they get involved with this summer are peaceful and fluffy, and that the message about the reasons for the campaigns is truthfully reported to the public by the news media, and that the police facilitate the events rather than obstruct them.
As for the question “are you weirdos?” the answer is that some of us may be a bit mad, but most of our friends are simply peace and environmental campaigners, and a lot of them are performers and entertainers and musicians, and there will no doubt be quite a lot of street theatre happening this summer.
This might seem a bit weird to some people, but we are all concerned about the heatwaves and the flooding and the natural disasters that are leading up to an Ecological Cataclysm and the extinction of all life on Earth, and we want to try to help reverse the process of global warming and save the human race from extinction and ensure the survival of future generations.
