European Mobility Week has started and will run until Car Free Day on the 22nd. Many towns and cities all over the world will be taking part, with walking and cycling events and including road closures to motorised traffic, so what about London?
What indeed! Most London boroughs will either be ignoring Mobility Week completely or will be making just a feeble gesture towards it on Sunday 23rd, after it has finished. The stated aim of Mobility Week is:
* on the necessity for changes in behaviour in relation to mobility and in particular the use of the private car in urban areas,
* on the need to reallocate road space to other means of transport for improving the mobility in cities and towns.
So don't our London Borough Councils give a damn about this? Well a few do but most don't. To find out which go to:
