will last from 1800 (6pm) on Monday until 1800 (6pm) Thursday this
will involve all the Metronet staff who are in the RMT, TSSA or Unite,
including those staff who work in the depots, controlling which trains
come in and out. What you probably don't know is what this means for
your journey home tonight.
Its very simple, from 1730 (5:30pm) all trains, except those on the
Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines, will be in their sheds. This
is Managements wonderful idea of a contingency plan, instead of
talking to the Unions and giving some solid guarantees over job
security and pension rights, they want to shut down most of the
Underground.
That's all this is about, job security and pension rights. Not much to
ask for when it was Transport for London who pushed Metronet into
administration.
So, get home NOW before the strike starts, because the last trains
will be leaving central London at around 1700 (5pm) and there will be
no more trains until Thursday evening. Don't bother trying to get on a
bus, they'll all be even more packed than they normally are. Don't
bother getting in a car, the roads will be gridlocked and you'll have
to pay £8 for the privilege of chocking on everyone's exhaust fumes.
Get home NOW!
All the best
John Thames
P.S. Tell everyone you know at work, forward it to anyone you know in
London and get the news out there! The Unions don't want to strike,
this is a weapon of last resort for them, their members will be just
as badly hit as everyone else in London! Three days pay is alot of
money to give up, especially if you've got kids to look after and a
mortgage to pay as most do.
