Parliament Square this morning.

Police attempt to suppress freedom of speech in Parliament Square today and fail.

While the great and the good and the warmongers were saying their piece at the back of the Square this morning, via several kilowatts of amplification and in front of a phalanx of the corporate media, just a few unamplifed human voices tried to present a somewhat different point of view at the front of the Square. At least one of them was manhandled by the police and threated with arrest several times for 'a breach of the peace', under the watchful gaze of a FIT photographer. And what was she doing? Merely speaking out in a a loud voice which the police though might offend someone. Never mind the several killowatts in the background that might also offend someone.

Luckily a few citizens nearby also had cameras, which probably influenced the police into thinking that discretion was the better part of oppression, so they finally withdrew.

All of this will be available visually in due course, and of course with the permission of those featured, who merely wanted to exercise their freedom of speech during a a widely advertised public gathering.
