Additional, away from the climate change theme and General Motors we turn to Genetically Modified Organisms with the Serindipia collective from Spain presenting their film 'TranXgenia. the worm and the corn's story' (37 mins). The film is part of the anti GM campaign of Plataforma Trangenics Fora and covers the main issues surrounding GMOs. It shows what happens to consumers and peasants, polititians and enterprises in the local catalan urban and rural areas when this invasive agriculutre reaches the 18.000 ha. and is absolutely out of legal regulation. It also shows how organic peasants are trying to survive and what consumer alternatives are being organised in barcelona.
We'll also be showing two shorts about the successful anti-GM campaign in this country which has once more resulted in there being no GM crops in the ground this year. Chemicals giant BASF abandoned plans for a GM potato trial in Yorkshire after multiple protests [video] and the trial planted in cambridge was destroyed [video].
