The eviction of Manor Gardens plotholders has been postponed until July pending court action, and they celebrated with a party.

Thanks to help from Friends Of The Earth, Manor Gardens Allotments have now gone to court over the failure of the LDA to make good their promises of an alternative location, and the proposed eviction has been postponed to July.

Of course they don't want to move, and what could be a better centerpiece for what claims to be a green Olympics than a thriving set of green plots in the centre of the site.

Plot holders Hassan and Reg, along with Sam Clark, top chef of Moro restaurant in Islington and others provided some great food, including splendid salad and Robin Shelton, author of ‘Allotted Time’, proposed a toast to Manor Garden Allotments.

Here are a few pictures that give some idea of the place and what's happening. More pictures and text now on my web site at  http://mylondondiary.co.uk/2007/04/apr.htm

Good news!

Its unthinkable that such a valuable resource should be scrapped just because of a pesky 2 weeks of boring and disrupting sports. Why are sports people allowed so much leverage? Is the money or the fanatical mob they generate?
