London Food Not Bombs in Whitechapel this Saturday, 3pm.

London FNB | 22.02.2007 17:47 | London

After a successful beginning last Saturday, the new London Food Not Bombs group will be serving hot, vegan/vegetarian food to all who are hungry every Saturday in Whitechapel. We still need help with skipping, cooking, serving, and as many people to be there as possible to make FNB into a social event which helps take the messages of anti-capitalism, horizontalism, self-organisation and ecological sustainability to those who encounter it and take part.

The details for this weeks Food Not Bombs and for subsequent weeks are as follows:

We will be meeting to cook the food at 12 noon at the London Action Resource Centre (LARC - www.londonarc.org), which is on Fieldgate Street, behind the East London Mosque and just off Whitechapel High Street.

We will be serving the food at 3pm, in ALTAB ALI Park, which is opposite Aldgate East tube station on Whitechapel High Street. The serving will last for about an hour. At the moment we are really desperate to find some acoustic musicians or people with portable soundsystems who can come along and help to create a good atmosphere while we serve.

To get involved, either turn up on Saturday or email us for more details:  londonfnb@lists.riseup.net

Invitation to the march

Why don't you bring some hot, vegan/vegetarian food at the coming pro-peace Anti-Trident missiles demonstration in central London this saturday 24th Feb?
I am sure many of us will appreciate it! :-)

Trident March

23.02.2007 12:20

Hi,

As a member of the Food Not Bombs group, speaking on a personal basis I'm really supportive of the motivations which will take people onto the streets on Saturday to demand that Britain's nuclear capabilities aren't extended and billions wasted. However we are really concerned to build up community support for our Food Not Bombs project in Whitechapel, and I feel that to do that we have to start being there every Saturday providing food for those who need it.
Good luck to everyone going on the march, and thanks for suggesting that we provide food - I'm sorry that we aren't able to help. I hope that there will be some other groups/individuals providing food on the day!
For other protests/actions/meetings etc., people should feel more than welcome to contact us to ask whether we can cook for them - so long as it isn't on a Saturday afternoon then we should be willing to oblige...
And if anyone is finished on the march by 3 and wants to come down to Whitechapel, the more people the better!

Thanks,
FOOD NOT BOMBS
