London Mexican embassy protest video - 30/10/06

Oscar Beard | 04.11.2006 16:30 | Oaxaca Uprising | Repression | Social Struggles | London | World

A rough video rush of the London Mexican Embassy protest on 30 October 2006.

Despite the Scotland Yard Press office releasing a statement claiming the protestors tried to gain entry into the embassy and in the process injured two police officers - one on the hand, one on the leg, no hospital treatment needed - this video catches the being of the violence and shows clearly one officer kicking into the crowd of samba players.

It is this one incident, clearly started because the officer was unable to handle the tense and loud but peaceful demonstration.

The video also shows this one officer is clearly up for confrontation, as he passes through the crowd he deliberately knocks a female protestor out the way.

Excellent work Mr. Beard. Very moving and powerful and you can clearly see an NUJ photographer being pushed around.

What would you do?-Mexican Embassy protest

If somebody was in your face, banging a drum while you were trying to do your job what would you do?Would you feel the eurge to lash out? Remember that the police are only human too, even if they do come across robot like. Im not trying to take sides here and i 'love' the police as much as anybody does, it just seems like you cannot have a peaceful protest when everybody is making all that music.

just to back up what kev sed, we all work for the police and work with the officer and you couldent find a better one out there, he handle the situation like any of us whould and if your going to critisise him for his actions then you need to take a look at yourselfs, you say peacefull demonstration??? i dont think so ,it was a blantant public order incedent and a breach of the peace........

right, i can write my opinion here to try to have a discussion with u (tim, kev, chris and james) but i think it is not worth to share opinion with u

so just fuck off and use other place to write your bullshit.....

All the 8 drummers were found not guilty on section 5 and section 14 didn't survive the first half an hour in the court coz the officer in charge and the Sergent didn't know what they were talking about so section 14 were dismissed. The court case took 5 days....tax payer money u see.....so why get a job to then pay taxes that are wasted....although i have a job....:)

p.s. open your eyes
