SOCPA - BRIAN HAW ARRESTED and DISPLAY seized

rikki | 21.10.2006 05:20 | SOCPA | Anti-militarism | Repression | London

in a very suspicious sequence of events, brian haw has been arrested in the darkness of the night and some of his display has been removed by police. the arrest follows what may have been a staged incident where a woman (who has been seen before around the square) attacked the display saying that she found it offensive. brian has apparently been arrested under a public order act part IV, and some of his display has been removed.

the baby-clothes washing line - offensive?
the baby-clothes washing line - offensive?

at around 5.20am this morning an unknown woman (who had been seen earlier talking to officers in parliament square) attacked brian's display and tried to pull down the washing line of bloodied baby clothes that forms part of it. police arrived at the scene in suspiciously fast time in several charing cross marked vans, and they immediately arrested brian under the public order act part IV ([4A intentional harassment, alarm or distress] under which a person is guilty of an offence if, with intent to cause a person harrassment, alarm or distress, he (b) displays any writing, sign or other visible representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting).

barbara tucker, who was staying overnight at the square, was prevented by police in her attempt to take a photograph of the woman concerned. they failed to give her any lawful explanation, but threatened her with arrest if she continued to try and photograph the woman, who was also taken away by police.

although the police were in charing cross vans, many of them were from belgravia, and officer 'ab922' seized the washing line of baby clothes claiming he was acting under orders of inspector fox and taking evidence of 'criminal damage', although it is unclear whether the woman has been arrested at all at this stage.

more news to follow.

WTF?

21.10.2006 11:11

That sounds completely suspicious agreed.

Some research needed into the incident indeed - let's see what the police say!

what is going on in this country?

What IS going on is ......

28.10.2006 17:10

All Brian Haw wants is for the killing and maiming and truamatising of children which is happening as a direct result of UK Foreign Policy to stop! Is that so much to ask? Is that unreasonable?

What IS going on is ......this. The UK Government have launched and continue to maintain an illegal war of aggression, the supreme international crime under the statutes resulting from the Nuremburg Trials and are now attempting to a) crush any dissenting voices, b) attempting to engineer a situation whereby those who issued the orders for that illegal war can place themselves above International Law in order to preserve their shiny oh so smooth hides and protect themselves from the people.

Tony Blair's Government (and it is HIS Government, he is the Chief Executive, no longer ours, make no mistake on this) is about to sign into law The legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill, which if it goes through will allow ministers to create, reform and repeal laws without Parliamentary oversight, in order to achieve the same end, and more - towhit, to avoid any possibility of prosecution uner international law for launching a war of aggression, in which at the very minimum 340,000 Iraqi people have died and to possibly make dissent a criminal offence.

For details on how to contact members of the House of Lords where the bill will have it's final reading on Thursday 3rd of November 2006, to urge them to stop this law going through visit :

 http://www.saveparliament.org.uk/news.php

This is the last time, the last chance anyone in the public can do anything to stop this law being passed. Once it goes through there is no legal way to stop ministers using it to alter law without us knowing or being told.

If not you, then who? If not now then when?

Meanwhile ........ across the waters..........

George Bush recently signed yet another draconian law in the States, enabling him as commander-in-chief of the US Army, Navy and Air-force to call on the Arm Services and the National Guard for police law enforcement purposes in the event of an insurrection or any other emergency the president declares (such as ...... being impeached by Congress for knowingly deceiving the US people and US Congress or indicted before the International Criminal Court for launching a war of aggression)

Public Law 109-364, or the "John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007" (H.R.5122) (2), which was signed by the commander in chief on October 17th, 2006, in a private Oval Office ceremony, allows the President to declare a "public emergency" and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities, in order to "suppress public disorder."

President Bush seized this unprecedented power on the very same day that he signed the equally odious Military Commissions Act of 2006. In a sense, the two laws complement one another. One allows for torture and detention abroad, while the other seeks to enforce acquiescence at home, preparing to order the military onto the streets of America. Remember, the term for putting an area under military law enforcement control is precise; the term is "martial law."

Section 1076 of the massive Authorization Act, which grants the Pentagon another $500-plus-billion for its ill-advised adventures, is entitled, "Use of the Armed Forces in Major Public Emergencies." Section 333, "Major public emergencies; interference with State and Federal law" states that "the President may employ the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service, to restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition in any State or possession of the United States, the President determines that domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of ("refuse" or "fail" in) maintaining public order, "in order to suppress, in any State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy."

For the current President, "enforcement of the laws to restore public order" means to commandeer guardsmen from any state, over the objections of local governmental, military and local police entities; ship them off to another state; conscript them in a law enforcement mode; and set them loose against "disorderly" citizenry - protesters, possibly, or those who object to forced vaccinations and quarantines in the event of a bio-terror event.

The law also facilitates militarized police round-ups and detention of protesters, so called "illegal aliens," "potential terrorists" and other "undesirables" for detention in facilities already contracted for and under construction by Halliburton. That's right. Under the cover of a trumped-up "immigration emergency" and the frenzied militarization of the southern border, detention camps are being constructed right under our noses, camps designed for anyone who resists the foreign and domestic agenda of the Bush administration.

Did I see Holocaust

He isn't the first person to disappear into the night after mentioning the Holocaust, the existance of a whole country is resting on that myth.
