The ever popular US Embassy.

The demo was unsurprisingly at its most loud and angry when passing the US Embassy. The blatant way in which Bush and his chums are siding with Israel at present demonstrates yet more hypocrisy and double standards in the so called ‘war on terror’.

The main chant as people passed by was ‘George Bush – Terrorist!’ This is of course highly unfair on regular terrorists who generally only tend to kill innocent people. Bush on the other hand is not content with killing a mere 100,000 Iraqis, he is going one better and killing the planet as well. The Stop the War Coalition must be bracing itself for some strongly worded letters of complaint from the likes of Bin Laden and Carlos the Jackal who will no doubt feel that the comparison is unfair.

Another thing that annoys many Londoners is the fact that the US Embassy operates the same kind of two tier approach to London as the US operates abroad. On one hand the Embassy staff use their diplomatic immunity to avoid paying the congestion charge and their parking tickets. On the other the bill for militarizing Grosvenor Square and protecting the place is paid by us! Dozens of very bored and miserable looking cops were stuck inside a cage surrounding the place. At one point some protesters tried to liberate the trapped pork by pulling the barriers away. The final fence proved too much for them and the detainees inside made no attempt to escape. Oh well next time.....
