Our troops can't be brought home too soon or chaos will result in Iraq

the occupation is creating the civil war already

The current US and UK occupation has played off one side against another, Shia against Sunni, in the classic pattern of 'divide and conquer'. Furthermore, the Iraqi security forces that the US/UK occupation is preparing to take over are sectarian militias and death squads. The situation is bleak as a result of this intervention.
So yes - bring the troops home now! Its best for Iraq, and best for US/UK soldiers and their families.
We want democracy in Iraq, but democracy can only come from below, never from imperialist intervention.
Democracy came to the US and Britain as a result of years of struggle. There were civil wars and revolutions like that between King and Parliament in 1640's England and the American revolution of 1776 against the British. The 1861-1865 American civil war was necessary to destroy slavery and bring more democracy in the USA.
If the US or Britain had suffered the intervention of a greater power in these years then democracy would have been thwarted, and corrupt monarchies propped up.
In fact, this is what happened with US intervention in the Middle East in the 1950's, with events like the CIA coup against Moussadeq in Iran. The middle east has been ruled by dictators and feudal absolute monarchies because of US/UK intervention in the Cold war.
Democracy comes from movements from below, like the Chartists and Suffragets in Britain, or the ANC and Nelson Mandela in South Africa. US/UK intervention will never bring democracy to Iraq or Iran. It will only create more sectarian war and an eternal cycle of bloodshed.
