MAYDAY VICTORY CELEBRATIONS
2pm Monday 1 May 2006
Bank of England
(Uniformed Officers Only)

It is our pleasure to announce that the Police Mayday Victory Celebrations will be going ahead as planned. With the "Anarchists" having no plans than a little marching as part of the usual Trade Union March, it is safe to declare that we have won! Yes, finally this ancient pagan day of celebration and disrespect for authority has been conquered - and it's time to have a party.

We encourage all police men and women who would normally be policing the anarchist activities to meet for a big street party outside the Bank of England at 2pm on May 1 2006. Since the lack of any protester activity this year means that we are all missing out on a fair lump of overtime pay, we are requesting that all officers supply food and drinks, and anything else becoming of a uniformed police officer on Mayday, to share with their fellows.

Please forward to all of your colleagues in the station, and post a copy of this up on your officers mess notice board.

The Space Hijackers Police Force.
Making London Safer

NOTES:

1) All officers are expected to be in uniform. Anyone attempting to be funny and arriving dressed as one of the great unwashed hippie or anarchist crowd may feel the blows of our truncheons. Riot vans are welcome although please note that parking restrictions may apply (consult your station master).

2) Police bands are more than welcome, also please remember to bring a radio to listen to the police frequencies.

3) Once again, this is a party for UNIFORMED POLICE ONLY, no terrorist protestors or bank robbers.

I think I'll go with the "anarchists" - as least it has some semblance of political engagement rather than prancing around with art students playing at revolution

who's going with whom?

23.04.2006 20:10

i think the anarchists are going with the mainstream unionists, meaning this is a perfect alternative event... this and the critical mass!

These as well.

Hands around Westminster's Exclusion Zone. If there are not enough hands they will probably Beat the Bounds, which beats marching with a bunch of Unionists!

Let's play at revolution !

24.04.2006 08:43

Quite right ! Those poncy art students ought to learn that unless you do it exactly like it's in the book then you're not a revolutionary. You're only playing at revolution.

I mean, let's face it. What's going to chalange's people view of authority most ? A few people organising an unauthorised demo, dressing up as police, and ridiculing them ? Naaahhh! What we *must* do for the good of the *revolution* (You know, the revolution. You may not be able to see it, but it's right there) is dress in black and go and walk witht he unionists. This is so anti establishment, we'll really make a difference there. And if we're lucky we'll get to smash a shop or two - that'll get us plenty of popular support.

People must understand that doing your own thing and being creative is elitist and only for poncy middle class art students. *Real* revolutionarys dress the same and walk together in a block, and occasionaly smash up a shop or two. That's the *only* thing that will make a difference.

We've had more than enough of those art students who're trying to take over our movement to promote themselves (just look at Banksy!).

Umm again

Well excuse me! It seems your "police victory parade" is more an attack on the "anarchist" organising the autonomous bloc at the TUC march - as it says in the text. To be called "anarchists" in quote marks is a tad piss taking don't you think. If you are gonna make something happen on mayday then all the best to you and the more the creative the better but when you start attacking people organising the autonomous bloc then thats something else......on that note I have chatted to people who do go on space hijackers things but won't be going 'cos of that remark.

Calm down

28.04.2006 11:16

Oh calm down, it's obviously being a bit tongue in cheek, and not an attack on the euro-mayday march. The press release is written as if it were the police writing it, so obviously it's going to be a bit provocative. The more events this year the better, and the more comedy and self evaluating we are the better. And if we can get a bunch of police to join in the party then that has got to be a good thing for everyone.
